BREAKING NEWS: Manchester United sign Dalot from Porto

Manchester United have signed full-back Diogo Dalot from Portuguese champions Porto.

Dalot only made his first-team debut in February but the 19-year-old has moved to Manchester on a five-year deal, with an option for a further year, after Premier League runners-up United activated his release clause.

With out-of-favour Italian Matteo Darmian expected to leave Old Trafford and manager Jose Mourinho desperate to provide veteran right-back Antonio Valencia with more competition, United have turned to the Portugal Under-21 international.

Joining Manchester United is an unbelievable opportunity for me, Dalot said in a statement on United s website.

I have grown up in Porto s Academy and I am so thankful for everything they have done for me. But the chance o…

Solskjaer confirms talks underway with Bailly over new Man Utd contract

Manchester United are in talks with Eric Bailly over a new contract, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed.

The centre-back, who played in his 100th game in all competitions for the Red Devils as they drew 1-1 with Milan in the Europa League last-16 first leg on Thursday, sees his deal expire next year.

Bailly joined for a reported £30million from Villarreal in 2016, making him the club s first signing under Jose Mourinho, but persistent injury troubles mean he has started just 27 league matches in the past four seasons.

The Ivory Coast international, who turns 27 next month, has largely impressed when called upon this season, with United keeping eight clean sheets and conceding 12 goals in the 15 matches Bailly has played.

Indeed, since his debut …

Sturridge determined to stay at Liverpool

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge sees his future at Anfield and is prepared to fight for his place in Jurgen Klopp s team week in, week out .

Sturridge scored two goals in nine Premier League appearances for the Reds in 2017-18 before being loaned out to West Brom for the second half of the season.

The 28-year-old England international failed to find the net for the Baggies in his six appearances and again struggled with a hamstring injury while at The Hawthorns.

However, Sturridge says pre-season is going to plan and he hopes to force his way back into Klopp s plans.

I see myself staying at Liverpool, hopefully being part of the team week in, week out, he told the club s website.

GOAL!!! makes it four!! 0-4.

Chelsea v Watford: Mourinho´s men eye riposte

Chelsea will attempt to get back on track when welcoming Watford in the third round of the FA Cup on Sunday.

Jose Mourinho s team suffered their lowest point of the campaign by falling to a surprise second league defeat on Thursday

Tottenham were their conquerors, putting in a dominant display to earn a 5-3 triumph as Chelsea began 2015 in dreadful fashion.

The result left Mourinho s side, considered as certainties by many for the Premier League title just a few weeks ago, level on points with champions Manchester City at the top of the table.

The Portuguese will be determined to ensure that does not represent the start of a rut, even if he seems certain to significantly shuffle his pack having not made too many alterations during an extremely busy festi…

Bayern have Lewandowski cover – Rummenigge calm over Wagner sale

Karl-Heinz Rummenigge is not concerned by the prospect of Robert Lewandowski being Bayern Munich s only recognised out-and-out striker for the remainder of the season.

Bayern sanctioned the sale of Sandro Wagner on Wednesday, just a year on from his arrival from Hoffenheim, after the Germany international received a lucrative offer from Chinese Super League side Tianjin Teda.

With Bayern trailing leaders Borussia Dortmund by six points in the Bundesliga table, and still competing in the DFB-Pokal and Champions League, the decision to sell without drafting in a replacement came as a surprise to some.

But Bayern chairman Rummenigge is confident the likes of Thomas Muller or Serge Gnabry could fill the void should something happen to Lewandowski.

Neymar is the Kim Kardashian of football, claims Barton

Joey Barton has branded Neymar the Kim Kardashian of football  and insists he could train former club Marseille without any problem .

The outspoken Barton criticised Neymar in an interview with L Equipe, insisting the Brazil international does not deserve to be considered on the same level as Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

He also weighed in on the Paris Saint-Germain forward s performances at the World Cup, where he came in for criticism for his on-field behaviour as Brazil were knocked out in the quarter-finals.

However, the Fleetwood Town boss did call a Neymar a phenomenon in one respect promoting his brand!

I think he is the Kim Kardashian of football, Barton who won a solitary cap for England during his playing career  claimed.

Premier League newbies Brighton and Newcastle United head into the Sunday clash at Amex Stadium in contrasting forms but with the same game plan. Sitting at different ends of the standings both Seagulls and Toon are eager to grab three points that would be a significant morale boost.

Brighton

Brighton Howe Albion have at times displayed glimpses of great quality at the beginning of their Preimer League campaign, particularly in their 3-1 victory over West Brom. Chris Hughton’s men went on to lose two games on the bounce however, and big questions remain of their Premier League credentials early in the season.

The forthcoming clash against Newcastle will be an emotional match for Seagul…

Foden lauds Sancho for making waves at Dortmund

Phil Foden heaped praise on Jadon Sancho for the way the England star embraced the pressure of first-team football at such a young age with Borussia Dortmund.

Sancho left Manchester City for the Bundesliga in 2017, making his debut for Dortmund at the age of 17 following a move prompted in part by fears over a lack of opportunities at the Etihad Stadium.

Foden himself may have harboured similar worries and there has often been talk of a loan switch for the midfielder, but he is steadily asserting himself under Pep Guardiola, who has always talked of the youngster in glowing terms.

Although Foden appears firmly in his manager s plans, he was impressed by Sancho s bold decision to move overseas, with the pair now reunited in Gareth Southgate s England squad.

France

Starting with France, managing to sign off their friendly preparations last week with a pair of thumping 3-0 victories against Wales and Bulgaria, it is no secret that the defending world champions are tipped as the standout contender this summer. Managing to build off of their success out in Russia three years ago, Les Bleus will be hoping to lay down a real marker on foreign soil. Mustering back-to-back wins against Bosnia-Herzegovina and Kazakhstan when finishing March s World Cup qualifiers, Didier Deschamps side have won each of their last four matchups on the bounce. Wel…

Manchester City 2 Hoffenheim 1: City through as group winners after Sane brace

Leroy Sane bagged a brace as Manchester City beat Hoffenheim 2-1 at the Etihad Stadium to ensure they made it through to the last 16 of the Champions League as Group F winners.

City, who had already qualified, needed just a point to be certain of top spot but they fell behind to Andrej Kramaric s 16th-minute penalty.

The hosts then twice hit the woodwork before Sane s long-range free-kick just before half-time drew them level.

And he found the net again 16 minutes after the break as Pep Guardiola s side bounced back from their Premier League loss away at Chelsea on Saturday, while Hoffenheim finish bottom of the table to miss out on the Europa League.
