Moyes dodges Mata questions

David Moyes refused to answer questions on Manchester United s rumoured approach for Juan Mata following their League Cup exit on Wednesday.

The Spain international, Chelsea s player of the year for the past two seasons, has been strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford after falling out of favour following the return of Jose Mourinho as manager.

Media reports on Wednesday suggested a fee in the region of £35million had been agreed between the clubs, with the Spaniard s move to be finalised swiftly.

However, Moyes was in no mood to shed any light on the situation in the aftermath of United s dramatic League Cup semi-final defeat to Sunderland sealed in a penalty shootout.

Mata has made just 11 Premier League starts for Chelsea this term, but now has the chanc…

Lo Celso completes loan switch to Real Betis

Argentina international Giovani Lo Celso has left Paris Saint-Germain to join Real Betis, with the LaLiga side having an option to make the move permanent.

Having signed for PSG in 2016, Lo Celso made 48 appearances in all competitions last term but has found his game time limited since Thomas Tuchel s arrival at the club.

In order to gain regular first-team football the 22-year-old has secured a temporary switch away from Paris, joining Quique Setien s side on a season-long loan.

I m very happy to be at a club with such a great history, Lo Celso told Betis official website.

One of the things that made me come was the club s project. Any player would get motivated by it.

Keeping in trend with their previous signing announcements, Betis revealed…

Market: Rennes win

Odds: 6/11 @

Excited to turn their attention back to Ligue 1 duties on Sunday afternoon, Rennes will welcome Clermont to Roazhon Park this weekend.

Rodgers praises ‘huge asset’ Benteke

Liverpool F.C. manager Brendan Rodgers believes £32.5 million summer recruit Christian Benteke will turn out to be a bargain buy for the club.

Over the past three English Premier League seasons, the Belgium international, who joined Aston Villa from K.R.C. Genk for £7 million in the summer of 2012, has scored 42 goals in 88 matches.

Benteke, best-priced at to be the Premier League s top goalscorer in 2015/16, faces competition from Daniel Sturridge, Danny Ings, Divock Origi and Roberto Firmino for a regular-place in Rodgers starting XI next season, with Italian duo Fabio Borini and Mario Balotelli likely to leave Anfield for pastures new in the coming weeks.

However, all signs seem to be suggesting Benteke will be Rodgers first-choice striker…

No experimentation for England, claims Southgate

Gareth Southgate has no plans to field an experimental side for England s Nations League fixture against Croatia.

The Three Lions take on their World Cup semi-final conquerors in Rijeka on Friday, with both teams searching for their first win in League A Group Four.

Southgate named an inexperienced squad for fixtures against Croatia and Spain – Borussia Dortmund s Jadon Sancho and Leicester City s James Maddison among six uncapped players selected.

Injuries to back-up goalkeeper Alex McCarthy and first-choice left-back Danny Rose have further complicated matters, but Southgate reiterated his belief in the squad s ability.

We re here to try and get a result so the team we play will be a team we believe in and [one that is] ready to start, Southga…
